WEIGHT LIFTER MUSICIAN INSTRUCTOR ENTREPRENEUR

M U S I C I A N

Beaver began playing the bass guitar when he was 13 years old -- at first teaching himself by listening to the Beatles, Cream, and Yes. He eventually shifted his interest to more jazz-oriented groups such as Weather Report and the Dregs. Progressive rock groups demonstrated the limitless potential of the instrument, to the young bassist.

"I still consider Chris Squire one of rock's most brilliant bassists for his ability to come up with a line that contributes to the song and carries it," Beaver says. "Whenever I put together a bass line, I work in some non-root notes because of my Chris Squire influence."

Over a 30-year career as a bass guitar player, Beaver has played in a number of bands, playing cover tunes as well as original music. Ah, the spandex years.
Spandex: if it fits, you must acquit.
